The segment of the population over 80 is the fastest growing segment. As the population in general ages, the need for care and attendance is increasing.

Women are the majority when it comes to care giving and most fit into the the age group of 45-55. Most are also raising children and thus the term the "sandwiched generation" was born.

Most people are surprised to hear that Medicare does not cover custodial care. This is an out-of-pocket expense and too many are not prepared to meet these costs.

Roles do reverse, but it is important to understand that you do not become parents to your aging parents. You become guardians of their safety and well being.
